Philip Wilkinson is an author of illustrated non-fiction books and has over fifty titles to his credit in a range of subject areas, particularly history and the arts. He was educated at Corpus Christi College, Oxford, where his honours degree was in English. From 1980 to 1989 he held a series of editorial posts at Dorling Kindersley, Octopus, and Gaia Books, after which he became a freelance writer, editor, and consultant.
Philip’s books include the award-winning Amazing Buildings (publisher Dorling Kindersley), the United Nations endorsed A Celebration of Customs and Rituals (publisher Collins & Brown/Viking), and several TV tie-ins, including three for the BBC’s major series, Restoration. Philip is based in England, but his books have been published all over the world and in more than fifteen languages. He has also worked on a number of multimedia titles. • Produced text for several innovative CD-ROMs, including the best-selling Sophie’s World
• Provided editorial consultancy services for a variety of clients including a top architectural practice and the British Library.
